SR22 in Arizona

Reader question:

I’m supposed to get SR22 in Arizona, but I don’t own a car. Um, yeah, HOW exactly is that supposed to work? I mean, I probably drive my boss’s car for my job about once a week–am I supposed to put THAT down? I can’t imagine what he’ll think if he catches me trying to find the VIN on his door…

Abby

Good question, Abby.

Hold up now–you don’t have to get insurance with SR22 in Arizona with the name of any other car than one that you personally own. This means that your boss’s car is his own business, and you need to deal with yours. Don’t own a car? Well, surprise, surprise, you actually don’t even have to own a car to get SR22 in Arizona. All you need is a driver’s license and a will to find a company for non owner driver insurance that doesn’t charge through the roof.

You can find such a company, and they will sell you a policy for SR22 in Arizona which will allow you to drive your boss’s car and any other car–except for one that has your name on it–and be completely insured and licensed while doing so. Well, not completely completely insured. Instead of getting to pull out all the stops (which is pretty expensive, anyway), you will need to make do with just liability insurance–all the better to make sure that the vehicles you are driving are fully insured.

Cheap Arizona SR22

Reader question:

How can I get cheap Arizona SR22, as a 19 year old? I need to drive to go to school, so just waiting it out isn’t an option for me…but at the same time, I didn’t take out my student loan to pay for my car insurance.

Joel

Good question, Joel.

You sound like a college student right there, Joel, so I have some good news for you. There’s a pretty decent chance that you can get cheap Arizona SR22 insurance, if only you’re willing to evaluate yourself and look for the right company. Here are some strategies to keep you on the road:

  • Check out your transcripts. Got good grades? Your cheap Arizona SR22 insurance company wants to see them, and if they’re good enough they might even give you a very hefty discount for them.
  • Start counting miles. Are you over a hundred of those away from the place you grew up and where your parents live? If you let your car stay at home with them, and catch rides while you’re at school, you save once again.
  • Schedule some time out. Go to a defensive driving course to get another discount.
  • Take it slow. Before you buy a cheap Arizona SR22 policy from a company, compare that company’s quotes against the quotes of other companies.

Reader question:

What is the required AZ SR22 coverage?

Brian

Excellent question, Brian.

The dry, arid state (for the most part) of Arizona doesn’t have to worry as much as other parts of the country about harsh whether conditions (unless you’re driving in the mountains). Maybe that’s why the required limits for AZ SR22 insurance coverage are so incredibly low. If you are trying to save money, then you will be happy to hear that you will only need to have $30,000 for bodily injury liability, with just a scant $15,000 per person in the crash. As for property damage liability, don’t even mention it–a mere $10k.

But before you go jumping on this chance to save on your AZ SR22, ask yourself: can you really be protected from lawsuits with a mere $45,000 worth of auto insurance coverage? I mean, how much do you think a serious crash really costs? What if you total someone’s car? That’s probably going to cost more than $10,000. What if you seriously injure someone? Okay, we know that will cost way more than $15,000.

And guess who is liable for the amount that your AZ SR22 insurance doesn’t cover? YOU. Y. O. U. So maybe you should take the car insurance company’s advice and get $100,000 in property damage and $300,000 in injury liability–save your money by comparing quotes and getting discounts, not by risking your financial security.

Arizona SR22 insurance

Reader question:

If I have Arizona SR22 insurance, and get into just a tiny little bump, do I still need to file a claim with my car insurance company?

Joseph

Hm, good question, Joseph.

You should really be cautious about whatever you do concerning claims with your Arizona SR22 insurance company. I mean, think about this: whichever way you go, it might end up on your insurance record for several years, and follow you around from state to state and company to company. So here are some cautions on both ends.

First of all, your Arizona SR22 insurance company has told you that you have to report everything to them. Thing is, there’s no law saying that you have to. If you do end up reporting, that will go into your file, and that information can be viewed by other companies for several years. Granted, it’s not possible for your car insurance rates to rise simply because of a tiny little bump, but it’s not unheard of that this can compund the problem started by a bunch of other little bumps and other things–i.e., the straw that broke the camel’s back, as they say.

Still, I’m a bit too paranoid to suggest that you avoid filing a claim with your Arizona SR22 insurance. If you had your bump with another person, then it might be that they will file a claim with your company before you do, even if it seemed to you that nothing happened to the car–some injuries don’t show up until later.

Scottsdale AZ SR22

Q: How do I know if a Scottsdale AZ SR22 company is a good one?

A: One thing you can do is simply ask people about their experiences with it. Ask your friends and families what companies they have their Scottsdale AZ SR22 insurance with, and if they have filed any claims with those companies, and so on.

Another good source for informed opinions on Scottsdale AZ SR22 companies would be in the mechanic shop. Mechanics deal with car insurance companies and claims everyday, unlike your average car insurance policy holder, so they interact with companies on a more direct and constant way than do most other people. Mechanics can tell you which companies they have had trouble dealing with and has made them run through hoops, and also which companies their customers praised and complained about.

You can also look up professional consumer ratings when you are searching for a good Scottsdale AZ SR22 car insurance company. Organizations such as J.D. Power Associates rate many different variables from a lot of car insurance companies.

Q: How can I get my Arizona SR22 rates to go down?

A: Have you thought about raising your deductible? The deductible is what your policy stipulates you must pay before your Arizona SR22 insurance coverage kicks in. This can be anywhere from $250 to $1500.

If you raise your deductible, then you can get an enormous cut in your Arizona SR22 insurance rates–often as much as 40%. This is one of the quickest and easiest ways to cut your insurance rates, and you end up saving more over the years than you would have if you paid a smalled deductible. Think about it–most people only get into an accident once every five years, if that. You pay way more than a thousand dollars over that time.

Q: I’m having trouble affording my Phoenix SR22 coverage, because my rates are so high. What can I do short of cancelling and accepting the suspended license?

A: There is a lot you can do, but you need to start somewhere. The first thing you need to do before anything else is make sure you’re with the right company. When people need Phoenix SR22 insurance, it’s sometimes a good idea to stick with your old company because they might not raise your rates. If you don’t get that benefit, it’s time to move on.

Rates on Phoenix SR22 insurance can vary as much as four hundred dollars among different companies for the same person. Shopping around and getting quotes from everywhere possible can help you avoid that.

Q: If I crash my car, will my Tucson AZ SR22 insurance rates go up?

A: There are multiple factors that determine whether or not your Tucson AZ SR22 car insurance will rise, and most car insurance companies will look at all three, while some will take into account only one.

  • How bad was the accident? You probably won’t see your Tucson AZ SR22 rates go up for a fender bender, but if you total your car, you most likey will.
  • How bad is your driving record (or how good)? If you have a bad driving record, then one crash could be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
  • How long have you been with your company, and how good is your record there? If you’ve only been with your company for a short amount of time, or have filed several claims, then you will probably see your rates rise.

Q: How do I pay less for Tucson SR22? I have an older car and I already have a lot of discounts and a high deductible.

A: Although having a good amount of coverage on your Tucson SR22 insurance policy offers a feeling of safety, when you’ve gone through all the other options and still don’t have enough for your car insurance, you need to make some sacrifices. One way that will take a big chunk out of your premium is cutting your covered down to Arizona’s minimum.

If your car is worth less than a thosand dollars or so, you need to cut your Tucson SR22 insurance coverage. Otherwise, you’ll end up paying more to insure your car than what it’s worth.
